Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

HairFactor collects the following when you use our app:

• Photos you take or select for hair analysis
• Analysis results and scan history stored locally on your device
• Basic device information for app functionality

We do NOT collect personal identifying information such as your name, email, or location unless you explicitly provide it.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your photos are sent securely to our servers and relayed to our AI provider (OpenAI) solely to generate the hair analysis or try-on image you requested. Photos are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after processing is complete. Analysis results and scan history are stored locally on your device — HairFactor keeps no copy of them on its servers.

When you use AI-powered features such as the AI Hair Coach, chat, or styling suggestions, the app sends the relevant details (for example, your hair profile, questionnaire answers, and recent scan summaries) to our servers, which relay them to OpenAI to generate your personalised response. This information is processed transiently for that request and is not stored by HairFactor.

3. Face Data

HairFactor does not perform facial recognition and does not collect biometric identifiers. We never create, collect, or store faceprints, facial geometry, depth maps, or any data generated from facial mapping technologies.

• What we collect: photographs you choose to submit. Hair and scalp analysis photos focus on your hair and scalp; photos submitted to the optional virtual hairstyle try-on feature may include your face.
• How they are used: each photo is used once, solely to generate the hair analysis or try-on image you requested. Photos are never used to identify you, and never used for advertising or tracking.
• Sharing and storage: photos are transmitted over an encrypted connection to our servers, which relay them to our AI processing provider (OpenAI) for one-time processing. Photos are never written to or stored on HairFactor's servers.
• Retention: HairFactor retains no copies of your photos. Our AI provider may retain API inputs for up to 30 days solely for abuse and misuse monitoring, after which they are permanently deleted. API data is not used to train AI models.
• Deletion: analysis results and try-on images are stored only on your device. You can delete them at any time from the History tab, or by deleting the app.

4. Calendar Integration

If you choose to connect your calendar, HairFactor reads event titles and dates directly on your device. This data is never sent to our servers or stored externally. All occasion matching happens on your device only.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. Photos and the hair-profile details used by AI features are transmitted securely to our AI provider (OpenAI) solely to provide the feature you requested and are subject to their data processing policies. OpenAI provides the same or equal protection of your data as described in this policy: transmissions are encrypted, API inputs are retained no longer than 30 days solely for abuse monitoring, are then permanently deleted, and are never used to train AI models or shared further.

6. Your Rights

• Delete your scan history at any time
• Deny camera, gallery, or calendar access
• Stop using the app — all local data remains on your device until you delete the app

7. Children's Privacy

HairFactor is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. Continued use of HairFactor after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
